MADOCA PP tear-resistant, translucent Japanese paper composite material, plastic-coated, washable, printable
Universal for shoji, lamps and lampshades, panel and vertical blinds
Very tear-resistant, easy to process:
- Covering shoji frames: stick on with double-sided adhesive tape
- sewing, plotting, punching, printing, braiding, folding, laminating...
MADOCA PP is a tear-resistant composite made of translucent Japanese paper with a middle layer of PET film. In addition, the papers are coated on both sides with matt plastic film (laminated). The laminated matt-transparent polypropylene film (OPP) improves printability with UV-curing inks and can be cleaned with water and standard household cleaning agents. This makes MADOCA PP Japanese papers particularly suitable for use in restaurants, kitchens and bathrooms.
The plastic-coated MADOCA PP can be used to cover shoji frames, design boxes and book covers or make lampshades and panel curtains.
Due to the PP lamination, MADOCA PP cannot be glued with Shoji-Nori or paste, but only with double-sided adhesive tape.
Composite materials made of Japanese paper and plastic react little or not at all to fluctuations in humidity, but do react to changes in temperature: They expand when heated. Because this property can lead to a change in tension on large surfaces, we recommend MADOCA and MADOCA PP primarily for smaller sash bar frames (with individual surfaces up to approx. 30 x 40 cm).

Q&A
MADOCA MFP is glued with double-sided adhesive tape. Shoji glue or paste will not stick because of the PP coating.

Urs (St. Gallen/Switzerland) –
after about 14 years i'm replacing the now yellowed paper in my shoji door. for cleaning reasons i'm now trying a washable version. it's a huge pleasure when i can still order it from Takumi after all this time and the delivery/quality is flawless - thank you very much - Urs

Madoca was easy to glue and cut. After gluing, slight dents were visible in the paper. Normal rice paper can be stretched by moistening it. How does this work with Madoca paper? Perhaps blow-drying? A processing guide would be helpful here.
