The light-colored handles contrast beautifully with dark woods such as larch, oak and walnut, but also go well with fir and pine and other light-colored woods.

Shoji handles are glued into a prepared hole in the frame wood. The corners of the handle hole must be chiseled out by hand. The handle shells themselves are slightly conical (wider at the top than at the bottom) so that they can be installed without joints.
