Description

ASANOHA AT28 (TS101) Shoji paper white, with star pattern

pure white, lightweight and highly translucent standard shoji paper with star pattern, 2-fold tear resistance

Shoji papers are thin, translucent, translucent white or natural-colored Japanese papers that are mainly used for covering lattice frames, screens and sliding shoji doors. Shoji papers diffuse and distribute the light from lamps or fluorescent tubes beautifully, so that they can be used to create large lighting objects easily and inexpensively. Despite their high translucency, shoji papers are largely opaque. Shoji papers are glued to wooden frames with a removable natural tapioca-based starch paste and then lightly moistened. They then stretch themselves as they dry.

The AKARUKU TSUYOI shoji paper series (abbreviation AT) are pure white, inexpensive shoji papers with twice the tear strength (compared to the simplest shoji papers made of pulp and viscose fibers). AKARUKU TSUYOI is Japanese for bright and stable.

Due to the addition of approx. 20% polyester fibers, they not only have higher strength values compared to simple shoji papers, but also react less to fluctuations in humidity. They therefore lose less tension in humid climates. In addition, papers with synthetic fiber content are relatively tear-resistant even when wet. These properties make AKARUKU TSUYOI shoji papers easy to process. Despite their low basis weight, they are very robust and can also be used for covering somewhat larger individual surfaces.

AT28 Shoji paper is ideal for use as Japanese paper in lampshades, light-diffusing ceiling panels, and for covering Shoji sliding doors and screens, provided there are no special requirements for tear resistance or cleaning. It is also used for a wide variety of craft projects.
